20th Annual Alpen Wine Festival

August 31, 2008

Sunday > 2 - 5 PM

The Village at Squaw Valley USA and Uncorked Wine Bar are hosting The 20th Annual Alpen Wine Festival, a vintage event catering to anyone who enjoys savoring fine wines in a scenic setting while helping a good cause. This year’s Alpen Wine Festival, which will help raise money for The Heuga Center for Multiple Sclerosis, will feature a guest of honor— former Olympic ski racer, Jimmie Heuga, and his family.

For a $40 donation to the Heuga Center, guests will receive a commemorative Spiegalau wine glass and unlimited wine tasting from 2 to 5 pm. Wine aficionados will enjoy offerings from more than 30 Northern California vineyards and the majority of wines will be available for purchase at Uncorked. Ivan Najera Quintet will spice up the event with their Spanish, Latin and jazz flavored music on the main stage. The Alpen Wine Festival also will feature a silent auction, which will help provide additional support for The Heuga Center. Festival attendees can bid on more than 50 items, including dinners at restaurants, magnums signed by winemakers, mixed cases of wine and more.

Former Olympic ski racer, Jimmie Heuga, founded The Heuga Center in 1984 to teach people with multiple sclerosis (MS) how to use exercise to help manage their life with this chronic disease. He wanted to share the principles that transformed his life from one of despair to one of health and well-being.
