Employment Policies
Here is a little of the fine print...
I.D. Requirements
In accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, any offer of employment is conditional upon satisfactory proof of an applicant's identity and legal ability to work in the United States. You may not begin work without furnishing this identification. Team members must be 18 years of age or older. If you have questions, please contact the Personnel office at (530)581-711
Grooming Standards
A professional and well-groomed appearance is an essential ingredient in Squaw Valley's success. Our uniform program and grooming standards are part of creating positive memories for our Guests. We rely on your good judgment and commitment to Squaw Valley to accept this basic condition of employment. Long hair for women is to be tied back in areas where it is a health or safety hazard. For men, the long and the short of it is that your hair must be kept short - above the collar and well trimmed. Radical hair styles or colors do not meet our standards. Mustaches are to be neatly trimmed and above the corners of the mouth. Men are to be otherwise clean-shaven; beards and goatees are not allowed. Jewelry should be worn in moderation. Men are permitted to wear one earring while at work. Women may wear a maximum of two earrings, in their ears only. Other facial jewelry or exposed body piercing is not acceptable on the job.
Drug/Alcohol-Free Work place
Squaw Valley Ski Corp is committed to a safe environment for its staff and guests. Post-accident drug/alcohol testing is required of all staff members. Some departments require pre-employment DOT testing.
Hours and Wages
Squaw Valley Ski Corporation's ski season traditionally opens the Friday before Thanksgiving and operates until Memorial Day or later if we have the snowpack.
Squaw Valley offers a competitive wage and most positions available are entry level and seasonal.
Because of the nature of the "snow" business, we cannot guarantee full-time work to anyone, particularly before mid-December. In addition, employees are not able to take off Christmas Week, President's weekend, or go off to Ft. Lauderdale for Spring Break. We work so our guests can play!
Housing
Each team member is responsible for his/her own housing.
If possible, plan to obtain housing as soon as possible. Several local Tahoe area newspapers, including the Tahoe World, have listings of rentals. Contact the personnel office for a list of real estate companies with rentals or click here.
