Squaw Valley provides a variety of ski programs for kids and adults of all ages.

Kids have fun as they develop skills and a love for skiing. Our specially trained coaches provide an environment for children to thrive as their skiing and their confidence improves. We focus on team building, responsible all mountain skiing and instilling respect for the environment and for fellow skiers.

Our Mighty Mite program is dedicated to developing kids who will gain amazing skiing skills and form lasting friendships in a team environment. We focus on skill building, team building, responsible skiing etiquette and code of conduct, respect for the mountain and winter environment, individual confidence, and FUN. Our goal is that each Mighty gain a solid foundation that will enable him/her to continue in our development programs.

The Mighty Mite's do have a uniform option. They are not required, but they are offered to us at a great deal and they are an amazing quality jacket and pant set from Spyder. A limited amount is still available at the Squaw Valley Sports Shop, as well as many layering options from Spyder to keep your kids warm. Contact the SVSS directly at 530-583-3356 to check on availability.
This program is available to young skiers ages 9 to 18. Big Mountain focuses on skiing steep and technical terrain in powder, crud, and other variable conditions. Our coaching staff will teach these skiers the skills to pick a line in technical terrain and ski it safely. Athletes will also have the opportunity to compete in the Tahoe Jr. Freeride series, as well as the Big Mountain Squaw Cup events.

This program is designed for young skiers ages 9 to 18 who want to further develop and improve their all around skiing skills and develop their racing skills. It is a stepping stone to our Far West programs. Athletes can compete in the Tahoe League race series.

This is a program for strong independent skiers who want to improve their racing abilities in a competitive skier cross atmosphere. Skier cross courses have rollers, jumps, and banked turns. We offer start-gate training, gate training with features and without, and we work on all-mountain skiing to develop strong, competitive athletes. In this program athletes are given the opportunity to reach their own goals including striving for the US Skier Cross Team.

Skier Cross Calendar USSA Schedule USASA
The Far West team is a competitive race program for skiers ages 9 to 21. This team focuses on gate training, race specific and free skiing drills, and video analysis. Athletes must be invited to participate in this program or must have been enrolled in an equivalent program at another resort to be eligible. Our highly credentialed and experienced coaches use sophisticated training methodology and materials to provide the best training and development opportunities for our athletes.

Masters racing is a division of the U.S. Ski Association and is designed for every level of skier ability, from entry level racers through ex-national team members. Masters racing provides the next step for up and coming accomplished skiers who are late bloomers, NASTAR and college racers, ski instructors, former professional racers and even ex-national team members.
