Ultimate Boarder Competition - One Week, Three Boards, One Champion

April 13, 2008
The triathlon of our generation, Ultimate Boarder™, is the only event of its kind: a one-week competition to find the first athlete who can conquer the art of surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding. Opening the field to both amateur and professional athletes, the Ultimate Boarder™, held from April 13-19, 2008, gives unknown riders a chance to shine alongside the pros and compete for the first-ever Ultimate Boarder™ champion title and a first place prize of $30,000. The snowboard competition will be held at Squaw Valley USA on April 13, 2008. The snowboard competition on April 13 at Squaw Valley USA, is followed by the surf competition on a date to be determined from April 16-18 at C Street (Ventura, Calif.) and will complete with the skateboard competition and awards ceremony on April 19 at the Ventura County Fairgrounds (Ventura, Calif.). To register for the ULTIMATE BOARDERTM competition, and for event details, rules and eligibility visit www.ultimateboarder.com. Check out who the competition is, submit your own highlight videos for others to watch, and don’t miss the intense snow, skate and surf video clips. Contest Format and Prize Purse Athletes will compete in a triathlon style format with each competitor judged on an individual basis. At the completion of each event competitors will be ranked first through 50th place. The contestant who consistently places the highest in all three sports and has the lowest number of ranking points overall will be crowned the Ultimate Boarder™. An athlete must compete in all three sports in order to be included in the final event results and prize purse. In the snowboarding portion of the event a panel of World Cup certified judges and celebrity guest judge, Jim Rippey, will judge the competitors skills on a slopestyle course. Surfers will compete in a traditional four or five man heat format and be scored by ASP sanctioned judges and celebrity guest judge Shaun Tomson. The skateboarding portion will be comprised of a mini ramp, street course and also be judged by World Cup certified judges and celebrity guest judge, Christian Hosoi. In a style similar to the Tour de France, a blue jersey will be awarded to the overall leader at the end of each stage of the competition. The one-of-a-kind athletes will be competing for a combined $50,000 prize purse, with $30,000 awarded to the first-ever Ultimate Boarder champion, $10,000 to second place, $5,000 to third place. The remaining prize money will be awarded through tenth place.
