Shirley Lake Express Update

In case you have not heard, our Shirley Lake Express lift has been replaced with a brand new DoppelmayrCTEC 2007 Detachable Grip (state-of-the-art) High Speed 6 Pac. The concrete for the towers has been poured and we are proud to have the new lift ready for skiers and riders to enjoy for the upcoming winter season!

Shirley Lake Express is our most heavily used chairlift at the ski area; it opens first and closes last. Although the Lift Maintenance department has done a terrific job maintaining this chair; the time has come to replace and upgrade this lift. SVSC has considered redesigning the lift profile several times to ensure the least amount of impact. Less than 166 cubic yards of material were excavated (pretty impressive for installation of new chairlift). 12 of the existing towers and footing were reused, two towers were replaced and the previously disturbed top and bottom terminal footing was incorporated into the new terminals. All lift towers were flown to a mid mountain staging area and refitted for the new chair. All BMP's were monitored regularly to insure the highest quality care. After completion disturbed areas were treated to return them to there pre-construction state.
