About the Artists
Among the artists showcasing their wares at this year’s show is Elaine Jason of Tahoe City who will be showcasing her mixed media sculptures made from wood products and wood, painted and constructed with found objects and some with neon. “Structural forms have always fascinated me,” says Jason, “whether they are structures in nature, such as the cellular forms of butterfly wings as seen through a microscope…or the architectural things that man has made.”
The watercolor paintings of Eva Stramer Nichols of Truckee are largely inspired by her travels around the world. Last year, she spent 3 months traveling to Bali, Malaysia, Borneo and the Northern Territory of Australia, and then embarked on another trip to the Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage Trail, traveling by foot from St. Jean Pied de Port in France to Santiago, Spain. “These were unforgettable experiences that cannot fully be explained in words, so now I am painting them,” says Eva.
Dirk Yuricich of Stateline, Nevada will be showcasing a variety of photos that feature the Lake Tahoe area, available in a variety of sizes from note cards to large pieces. This self taught photographer uses a 35 mm SLR camera to capture landscape images, wildlife, abstract, travel, photojournalistic and documentary images. Dirk's passion is travel, so travel photography makes up a fairly large portion of the images you will see at the Festival including a collection of beyond-the-average-tourist view of Japan images, a large selection of Ecuador and Bali photos, a broad spectrum of Europe images, and of course beautiful Lake Tahoe/ mountain images.
Additional artists participating in the Festival include Diana Ahrens of Reno with her mosaic-type mixed media pieces; Michael Kerby of Meadow Valley, California showing his watercolor and acrylic paintings inspired by the Sierra Nevada mountains; and Gary Chappell of Nevada City, California with his one-of-a-kind jewelry crafted from metal fabrications, hard wax and other materials.
