THE HEUGA CENTER

All proceeds directly benefit the Jimmie Heuga Center by providing scholarships for patients to attend the Heuga Center's various Multiple Sclerosis medical programs.

Founded in 1984, the Jimmie Heuga Center is a scientific research organization dedicated to helping those with multiple sclerosis reclaim a sense of control in their lives through specially developed health and wellness programs. The Center’s philosophy focuses on what individuals CAN DO within the constraints of the disease. “Life, like everything else, is a chronic condition. I’m living for today,” asserts Heuga, the Center’s founder.

Jimmie Heuga, a Lake Tahoe native, won a bronze medal in the men’s slalom at the 1964 Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck, Austria. In 1970 he was diagnosed with MS, one of the most prevalent neurological diseases in the nation today. He rose to the challenge and instead of following the sedentary lifestyle recommended by doctors, he performed a daily exercise regime, which greatly improved his physical and psychological well-being. Today he provides inspiration for the Center, whose wellness programs have been accepted by the medical community as well as by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
