Stargazing at High Camp, elevation 8200'

Stargazing dates are July 4-5,11-12, 25-26, August 1, 8-9, 22-23, 29-30, 2008

StargazingStargazing Professionals Paul and Gigi Giles bring a variety of high-powered telescopes to High Camp, offering guests the chance to explore the majesty and wonders of the night sky.

Short seminars on astronomy are offered to those that are interested and astronomers will be available to provide information on telescope use and sky watching.

Summer’s clear, crisp evenings, and Squaw Valley USA’s high elevation and light pollution-free skies create an excellent opportunity to view a variety of astronomical phenomenon not regularly seen by the naked eye such as constellations, planets, satellites, galaxies, nebula, star clusters, double stars, the Milky Way and even meteor showers.

The telescopes are available beginning at dusk and guests may come and go at their leisure. No reservations are needed, guests simply take turns looking through the telescopes. Sometimes, on busy evenings there may be a short wait. All ages are welcome.

Stargazing is free with your Cable Car ride.

NOTE: Stargazing can be cancelled due to wind or other weather so please call ahead (530-583-6985) to confirm if you think the weather might be questionable.
