Take a hike!
Explore Squaw Valley's beautiful wilderness on foot alone or on one of our many guided hikes!
Ride the Cable Car to High Camp and choose from a variety of trails (maps available from Guest Services). Climb to the weathered buttresses atop Squaw Peak, visit the historic Watson Monument at Emigrant Peak, or meander through the meadows covered with wildflowers, and enjoy the panoramic views afforded from Squaw's spacious upper mountain.
Click Here for descriptions of some of the trails.
Picnic lunches and hiking snacks are available at High Camp which offers a special Hiker's Box Lunch - available at the Poolside Cafe.
Squaw Valley offers a variety of guided hiking options for summer guests:
FULL MOON & SUNSET HIKES - Try one of our evening Full Moon or Sunset Hikes Schedule These wonderful hikes take place every Friday and Saturday (except Saturday, July 25) evening throughout the summer. Explore Squaw Valley's upper mountain as the moon rises and the sun sets over Lake Tahoe.
Dogs
You are welcome to bring your dog with you on your hike at Squaw Valley. Please be sure to bring a leash as all dogs must be leashed while riding in the Cable Car and inside any buildings or facilities. There is no charge for dogs on the Cable Car. Once at High Camp, your dog is welcome on the hiking trails, however, dogs are not permitted at the ice skating rink and pool, nor in any restaurants. We ask that you use your best judgment in leashing them on the trails.
