Earth Day Film Festival

Tahoe Truckee Earth Day is proud to host two screenings of select environmental films from the Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival. Each screening will have a total run time of 90 minutes with films varying from 2-40 minutes in length. The films address a variety of topics, including water, climate change, energy, conservation, wildlife, and adventure. Each venue will feature two different packages of film, so you are encouraged to come to both nights!

Films will start at 7pm at Olympic Village Lodge. Tickets are $10 per screening.

April 19 Film About
  Dark SIde of the Lens This short film takes you on an eerie, stunning and moving journey amongst the epic oceanic grandeur of Irelands west coast.
  A Skiers Journey EP2: Baffin Island High in the Canadian Arctic, five friends venture to the frozen fjords of North West Baffin Island during spring time. 
  Chasing Water Follow the Colorado River, source to sea, with photographer Pete McBride who takes an intimate look at the watershed as he attempts to follow the irrigation water that sustains his family’s Colorado ranch, down river to the sea.
  Kadoma An exploration of the Nile River and through Rwanda into the heart of the Congo. 
  Chumbe Island Coral Park Chumbe Island Coral Park is a short video about an island in East Africa, off the coast of Zanzibar that has an eco-resort, which provides environmental education for local students.
  Tahoe Pipe Club Discusses the loss of clarity in Lake Tahoe. 
APRIL 20 FILM  ABOUT
  eel*water*rock*man A short documentary vignette celebrating nature’s cycles, contentedness, and the last man on the east coast who still fishes for eels using an ancient stone weir. 
  The Craziest Idea The two dam removal projects that began as “crazy ideas” 30 years ago kicked off this year on the Elwha and White Salmon Rivers in Washington. These dam removal projects are the largest in history and represent a turning point in the effort to restore freeflowing rivers for salmon, recreation and culture. 
  Cold On February 2, 2011 Simone Moro, Denis Urubko and Cory Richards became the first to climb pakistan's 8,000 meter peaks in winter in the past 26 years.
  Skiers Journey: Friends of Shames With time running out for majestic Shames Mountain in Northern BC, local skiers from Terrace, Prince Rupert, and Kitimat have decided to take matters into their own hands and buy the ski hill as a community co-operative.
  Better Bones and Gardens Better Bones and Gardens is a short documentary about Dan Phillips, a trash architect, and Kipp Nash, an urban farmer. 
  A Liter of LIght  Isang Litrong Liwanag (A Liter of Light), MyShelter Foundation’s latest venture, is a sustainable lighting project which aims to bring the eco-friendly Solar Bottle Bulb to disprivileged communities nationwide.
  GROW! It’s not just ‘Old MacDonald’ on the farm anymore. Across the U.S. there’s a growing movement of educated young people leaving the cities to take up an agrarian life.
